Washington, D.C. - Chinese soprano Danyi Ma participated in an international cultural and peace initiative held at the headquarters building of The Washington Times in Washington, D.C., bringing together artists, cultural representatives and community leaders from diverse international backgrounds.

The program was presented as part of the Global IAPD Peace Initiative and UPF International cultural exchange activities and featured a Japanese tea ceremony, intercultural presentations and discussions focused on peace, cultural understanding and international dialogue.

Ma, a doctoral-level vocalist currently pursuing advanced academic studies at Harvard University, is the founder of Global Art & Culture USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting international artistic collaboration and cross-cultural exchange. She has also participated in arts initiatives associated with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

According to organizers, the event sought to strengthen people-to-people communication through artistic and cultural engagement. Participants included representatives from diplomatic, educational and multicultural communities, reflecting Washington’s role as an international center for dialogue and cultural exchange.

During the event, Ma joined international guests and artists in cultural exchange activities that highlighted the role of music and the arts in fostering communication across cultures. Organizers emphasized the importance of grassroots cultural initiatives in promoting mutual understanding among diverse communities.

The event’s location at The Washington Times building added an additional dimension to the international gathering, connecting cultural exchange efforts with one of Washington’s established media and public affairs institutions.

In recent years, increasing numbers of overseas Chinese artists have participated in international cultural initiatives aimed at introducing Chinese artistic traditions to wider global audiences. Ma said she hopes such programs can continue to encourage dialogue, artistic cooperation and cross-cultural understanding through shared creative experiences.

“Music and culture provide opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect in meaningful ways,” Ma said. “Artistic exchange helps create understanding that goes beyond language and geography.”
