Parkview Baptist beats University Lab for Division II crown
HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Senior guard Skyler Goodwin scored a game-high 34 points to lead Parkview Baptist to a 69-49 win over University Lab in the 2017 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division II girls basketball state championship game Saturday at the University Center in Hammond.
Shooting 57 percent in the first quarter, Parkview Baptist (28-5) broke out to a 21-13 advantage. Leading 37-26 at the half, the Eagles continued to shoot well, finishing the game shooting 45.7 percent.
Senior Leah Collins added 16 points and seven rebounds for Parkview Baptist. Center Megan Hatch had a double-double, notching 11 points and 12 rebounds.
University Lab (34-7) was led by senior guard Kalia Anderson, who finished with 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds. Sophomore forward Kennedy Paul had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
