Duo get life terms in Pittsburgh man’s 2014 shooting death

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Two men have been sentenced to life in prison in the shooting death of a Pittsburgh man, which authorities said stemmed from a request from a former lover to have him beaten up.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://bit.ly/2i5qUYF ) reports that 29-year-old Derek Lee and 29-year-old Paul Durham were sentenced Monday in Allegheny County on second-degree murder convictions in the October 2014 slaying of 44-year-old Leonard Butler.

Prosecutors said a woman asked Lee, a co-worker, to beat Butler up because she was angry that Butler hadn’t told her that he’d been released from jail and because she found another woman at his home.

Authorities said Lee and Durham broke into Butler’s home, beat him, hit him with a stun gun and then shot him when he lunged at one of them.
