Police: Ohio woman’s slaying case presented to grand jury

CLEVELAND (AP) — Police say evidence is being presented to a grand jury in the case of a northeast Ohio woman who was fatally stabbed in broad daylight on a downtown Cleveland street two years ago.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports (http://bit.ly/1Bq9vaT ) Cleveland homicide detectives have handed their investigation into the death of 53-year-old Aliza Sherman to the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police say Sherman was stabbed 11 times outside her divorce attorney’s office on the afternoon of March 24, 2013. The Cleveland Clinic fertility nurse and mother of four still had her purse, and her SUV was parked nearby.

Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said Tuesday at a vigil marking the second anniversary of Sherman’s death that prosecutors are presenting evidence to a grand jury to seek an indictment.
